Don't be a rotting corpse
Last week Rob Smith, Blueleaf’s Digital Director, presented a seminar to around 60 delegates and this was the tip that resonated with the most people. We’re all guilty of it at some point or another – it doesn’t matter whether you’re an ecommerce site or a brochure site, you can very easily start to rot if you’re not careful. What I mean by this is that your website will be slowly dying if you’re not investing time in creating new content for your visitors to feed off.
These visitors are real humans and search engines, both of which appreciate frequent updates to websites and something new to look at. If you have an ecommerce site, it’s not enough to just add the occasional new product. You should be leading your content creation with opinion and advice. For example, if you’re selling kitchenware there should be lots of content such as product reviews, the latest design and technologies or whatever’s current.
Sitting on your laurels and not keeping your website consistently up to date with engaging content is the start of a slow death.
What are you going to do this week to update your website?
