We’re delighted to welcome not one, not two but three new developers to the Blueleaf team - Ivelin joined us in January, whilst Georgi and Doroteya became part of the team in February.
We caught up with them all to see how they’re getting on at Blueleaf and what brought them to the world of development in the first place.
So guys, how long have you each been a developer and what first attracted you to the profession?
Ivelin: When I was younger, I didn't have any dreams to be a developer, I didn't really know what I wanted to do. At University, I originally chose accounting but then decided I preferred computing so followed that route. I like the logic of developing.
Georgi: I've been a developer for about a year and a half - originally I was going to be an architect but I decided that job would not be fast-paced enough for me. I'm still studying at University - Computer Science and Software - and I'm in my third year.
Doroteya: I've only been a developer for the last 6 or 7 months and like Georgi, I'm still studying. I find developing really interesting and like the constant change of this industry.
What made you want to work at Blueleaf?
Ivelin: Last year, I changed jobs and moved to a company with thousands of employees. I prefer working for a smaller company though so Blueleaf is great for me. I really liked the sound of the role on offer and was impressed by the clients I would be working with, as well as being impressed by the team I would be working with.
Georgi: When I first spoke to Adrian, I loved the sound of working at Blueleaf - the culture, the values and the friendly atmosphere Adrian described. I was sure that I would learn a lot from the team.
Doroteya: I spoke to Pete at my first interview and thought he sounded really friendly and happy and I decided that I wanted to be part of the Blueleaf team.
Are we living up to your expectations?
Ivelin: Yes, definitely. Pete is always there to help, as well as Adrian and the rest of the team - everyone is always willing to help . I just want to make sure the team is happy with me!
Georgi: Yes, I feel even more motivated now than when I originally spoke to Adrian.
Doroteya: Yes, it's been great so far. As I'm quite new to developing, I've been spending my first few days training and watching video tutorials - lots to learn.
What do you like to do, besides developing?
Ivelin: I really enjoy reading and I'm currently working my way through Captain Michalis which is by the Greek writer Nikos Kazantzakis, who also wrote Zorba The Greek. I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend and also with my fish! I have a large fish tank and like reading about how to look after the fish.
Georgi: I like going out with friends in my spare time. I grew up on the Black Sea Coast in Bulgaria but now live in the city - I'm adjusting to the change but still miss being by the sea.
Doroteya: I like to watch TV, read books and go out with friends. I also lecture on Microsoft Excel in my spare time.
