We’d like to introduce our newest recruit, Strategist Iain Burnage. Iain is a super-talented ecommerce professional and we're finding out that he seems to know pretty much everybody in our industry! So we’re excited to welcome him on board and for him to share a little more with our Browse readers about where we found him and what he’ll bring to the role. So, here’s our Q&A with Iain:
That’s some introduction; tell us a little more about your ecommerce career
Iain: Yes, my career has been predominantly ecommerce focused. I've worked in a variety of multi-channel businesses from JD Sports to Footasylum and more recently webuyanycar.com (please don't sing the song from the advert, I’m happily getting used to it not being in my head all day). In these roles I’ve predominantly been doing Project Management so I’ve gained great deal of exposure to high-volume ecommerce retail. I’m looking forward to putting this insight to use here at Blueleaf, to grow and support our clients so they can exceed their ecommerce targets.
What attracted you to Blueleaf and are we living up to expectations?
Iain: Blueleaf hold an experience day as part of the interview process, where you come in for the day to just experience what it'd be like working here. It's your chance to get a feel for the role and your potential new colleagues. On my experience day I noticed the passion the team have, everyone is so enthusiastic and I can tell they enjoy being here. Now I’ve been here a couple of weeks myself, I feel the same. None of the team spirit has dwindled and everyone has been really welcoming and helpful - I've noticed a few of the other new starters have said the same in their 'welcome' article for Browse. I’m genuinely really enjoying it and I'm feeling very settled already. I’m looking forward to getting out and about, meeting our clients and helping them drive their ecommerce business.
You mention meeting the clients and helping them drive their ecommerce forward. Is that what your role here entails?
Iain: Yeah, so as a strategist I work with our clients to help them develop and improve their ecommerce and multi-channel offerings. Having worked in retail environments for the past 7 years, I’m really excited to have the opportunity to use that experience to benefit our clients, as well as the team here. I have a genuine passion for ecommerce and I love to see well-executed ecommerce and of course I get a thrill seeing those all-important results come in. I’m hoping this passion can be used to inspire our clients and the already pretty darn inspired Blueleaf team.
We’re blushing Iain. So what do you get up to out of hours?
Iain: I’m married with a young daughter and another little one on the way, so family life keeps me busy. When I’m not playing “Dad” I’m playing or watching pretty much any sport, I’m not fussy. I can regularly be seen wearing some horrendous trousers and strolling around a golf course or “playing golf” as some people call it. I’m trying to get my daughter into golf too, as my early retirement plan. I’m having varying success!
