Manchester Police have launched their own Facebook application to help fight crime using the Internet, complimenting their existing use of YouTube for posting video on crimes and other useful information for the public.

This is a great example of what could be considered a stuffy and old school organisation embracing new technology enabling them to leverage the power of social media to help the community and keep them up to date, with very little marketing spend in terms of printing, distribution, etc.

My only concern is that both the application and their site could benefit from bringing the look, feel and user interface in line with the forward thinking attitude that these ideas are showing is very present.
