With so many petrol heads at Blueleaf, there's always a buzz at the start of a new Formula 1 season. This year we've got an extra reason to be excited, as we've just launched a brand new website for the all-conquering Infiniti Red Bull Racing team.

Working alongside Ideas Made Digital, we were asked to consult on the information architecture (IA) and design, and develop the front and back ends of the site.

The ethos of the site is to act as a global content hub for Infiniti Red Bull Racing, bringing the latest content (in a range of media) to fans all over the world and acting as the 'go to' place for team news, information and social media activity.

Ideas Made Digital researched the site's users, defining target audiences and quickly identifying the need for a fully responsive site that would scale to fit any device, giving a great experience whether you're at the trackside with your mobile or watching TV coverage with your tablet at home.

We began with workshops to explore the best IA for our target audiences and how we could communicate the brand with the design of the new site. Visuals were created with input from the Blueleaf team to help perfect user experience and bring the site to life with the latest user interaction techniques. A few of the team were lucky enough to present designs at Infiniti Red Bull Racing's factory in Milton Keynes just a few days ahead of last year's Silverstone GP, seeing Vettel and Webber's cars being prepared whilst they were there.

The site was built to help visitors easily navigate a wealth of information, using intuitive filters and encouraging social sharing. The uncluttered design and minimal navigation allow the stunning photography and other media to shine through.

A lot of work was put into making the site fully responsive, ensuring a great user experience across all devices. This also means that Infiniti Red Bull Racing's editors only have to update content once (in an intuitive Drupal-based content management system), safe in the knowledge that it will work equally well on all devices.

The site is built on Blueleaf's own bespoke platform that now powers several high-profile Red Bull websites, serving a combined total of millions of visitors every year.

Since launch, it's been very well received by client and public alike and we can't wait to see it in full swing during the new F1 season.
